Arsenal will host Manchester City at Meadow Park on Sunday evening 18:45 kick off (local time).

Eidevall’s Arsenal will be looking to secure their third  league win in a row in the Women’s Super League after a decent start. In their last fixture they beat Reading 4-0, where Jennifer Beattie, Beth Mead and Vivianne Miedema were all on the score sheet. Arsenal have failed to beat Manchester City in their last three WSL meetings, each game finishing 2-1 to City. However with Arsenal’s confidence rising after beating Chelsea on the opening day and City’s current injury problems Jonas and his team will be looking to capitalize on that. Beth Mead will be looking to continue her good form which sees her currently top scorer and most assists in the league with 3 goals and 2 assists, making her the ShePlays top points scorer so far. Mead’s good form also continued into the international break where she scored once and racked up four assists.

Manchester City will be looking to regroup after the international break, and get back on to winning form after failing to qualify for the Champions League due to a 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid and after a controversial defeat  2-1 against Tottenham Hotspurs, which saw Rosella Ayane’s handball turned in by Benameur. Ellen White will be looking to continue the goal scoring form from the international break after scoring four times across two games. Lauren Hemp was the only Manchester City goal scorer in their last fixture and has scored against Arsenal in the last fixture, she will be looking to cause them problems again.

In last season’s fixture between these two in February Manchester City collected all three points in a 2-1 win at Meadow Park. City scored goals from Ellen White and Lauren Hemp, and both goals were assisted by Chloe Kelly. Cailtin Foord scored Arsenal’s only goal.  The fixture was also Arsenal’s first game in three weeks after weather had called off two previous games against Aston Villa and West Ham.

Arsenal will be looking to have Caitlin Foord, who missed the first two fixtures due to a quad strain, and Noelle Maritz back who missed the latest international break through injury. Arsenal however will still be without midfielder Jordan Nobbs due to a ankle sprain, and defenders Simone Boye and Viktoria Schnaderbeck both out with knee injuries. Malin Gut is also out with an ACL injury.  Frida Mannum could also be a donut after suffering a bruised rib on international duty. Arsenal may also finally have Tobin Heath to add to the game day squad.

Manchester City will be without  Chloe Kelly (knee injury), Ellie Roebuck (calf injury), Esme Morgan (lower leg fracture), Lucy Bronze (knee injury), and Kiera Walsh. Other injuries include Haley Raso, Caroline Weir, Karen Bardsley, and they could also be without Steph Houghton and Alex Greenwood. Houghton pulled out of the most recent international camp with an ankle injury, and Alex Greenwood was substituted during the game against Luxembourg with an injury. However, England Manager Sarina Wiegman has claimed the injury is ‘not too bad’ and Greenwood is being assessed.
