Arsenal started brightly in what is their last match at Meadow Park this season.

Within the opening 10 minutes Miedema already had her first of the afternoon with a strong shot at the Aston Villa keeper. Rogers did manage to get a touch to the ball but it was too powerful.

Not 5 minutes later the Dutch woman had her brace through a low shot that just escaped the Villa keeper.

Arsenal continued their dominance throughout the rest of the first half, with Beth Mead rattling the crossbar, but the goals would come in the second 45.

Arsenal started the second half just as brightly as they ended the first, with Caitlin Foord having a second goal of the day chalked off.

Arsenal’s third of the afternoon was an unfortunate own goal as Midema’s powerful shot was rattled around and eventually turned in by Corsie.

Beth Mead’s long range strike was by far the goal of the afternoon and the number 9 was awarded with a huge round of applause when she was subbed shortly after.

Catley’s free kick was initially stopped by the Aston Villa wall but it got played back in and Wubben-Moy slotted home a calm finish.

Blackstenius didn’t take long to become impactful after being subbed on, scoring a tight-angled low shot in the 83rd minute.

Nikita Parris rounded off Arsenal’s incredible afternoon with a late penalty.

One thing is for sure, Arsenal sent a strong message to league leaders Chelsea that they are coming for that WSL title. There really is no room for error as we come down to the last few games.
