Jill Roord (Manchester City) and Guro Bergsvand (Brighton)

Wednesday’s matchup of Manchester City vs. Manchester United saw standout Jill Roord go down with an apparent knee injury in the 10th minute. Roord has made a huge impact for City as they have risen to one of the top sides in the WSL this season. This impact is reflected in fantasy as well, as she was 2nd among midfielders in ShePlays fantasy points. Her loss leaves a huge hole not only for City, but likely for your fantasy squad as well. Who could be a possible replacement?

Kenza Dali

Kenza Dali (Aston Villa)

My pick for your ShePlays team is Kenza Dali from Aston Villa. After recovering from a knee injury sustained at the World Cup, Dali has been aggressive in her return to the WSL. She leads all midfielders in “attack” points since Week 6, and while she has only picked up 1 assist so far you can speculate that the aggressiveness will pay off sooner or later. Check out the chart below, which shows Dali and Katie Zelem are in a league of their own attacking from the midfield.

Additionally, Dali will have an easier upcoming schedule. First, she faces a reeling Manchester United team in GW 12, who have lost their last 3 matches against WSL teams, followed by 3 “easier” fixtures in Bristol, Tottenham, and Liverpool. I expect that some of the chances she creates in these matchups will find the net.

Other Standouts

Double City attack (Chloe Kelly + Khadija Shaw) is really tempting right now. Chloe Kelly is in a league of her own among forwards in terms of attack points, and she can haul any given week with that consistency.

Value Forward

Also, a sneaky play here could be to pick up a Bristol City attacker. All four of their next matchups are against teams currently in the bottom half of the table. Amalie Thestrup has quietly been scoring a decent amount. She is 3rd in points among forwards below 200k, so if she can take advantage of some of these fixtures you could have a great budget attacker.
