Sarina Wiegman has named her 25 player squad ahead of the Lionesses international friendlies, commencing on November 11th.

Ex-Brighton and Hove teammates Katie Robinson and Maya Le Tissier have received their first senior call ups, which have been very highly anticipated for quite some time now.

Alessia Russo has been deemed fit following a short spell away, regaining her place within the squad despite withdrawing from the October camp with a small injury.

Niamh Charles is back in the squad for the first time since not being included in the EUROS winning team.

Jordan Nobbs also makes a return to the international set up as a result of her incredible form for Arsenal recently, 2 goals in the last 2 games and also being named player of the match in both.

Skipper Leah Williamson is still missing from action and has been for nearly a month now due to what appears to be an ankle injury. It is assumed that Millie Bright will resume to wear the armband for the time being.

On the fixtures, Wiegman says “These will again be two good challenging games for us which is just what we want and need at this stage. We will come up against one team in Norway that we know plenty about and who are building again under Hege. However, before then we have a tough match against a Japan, who are bringing a different style of play which is a good preparation for the World Cup.”

“We are hoping the conditions in Spain will help us to maximise our training as every session counts, along with the matches of course, in helping us to be ready for the World Cup. We cannot waste a minute and I am looking forward to getting back on the grass. We have some new players to look at as we know we have so much competition for places coming through.”
