Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve covered some recommended replacement players for the World Cup, both for the primary FNWSL goal scorers and some additional options. So let’s take a look at how some of those premium-price players fared in Round 14.

Ryan Williams: Williams and her North Carolina teammates blanked Houston at home for the Courage’s third consecutive clean sheet, and she’s now the highest-scoring DF in FNWSL. Of the premium-price DFs that aren’t headed Down Under, she’s by far the highest-value.

Ashley Hatch: Our favorite World Cup replacement captain had a difficult match, only logging six fantasy points in the Spirit’s 3-0 defeat at home to Orlando. Washington’s attack appeared to be missing Trinity Rodman and Ashley Sanchez, and Hatch only got 38 touches and one shot on goal. Remember though, that Hatch’s lower point total was partially due to a late yellow card, and she’s still the highest-scoring FW not at the World Cup.

Tatumn Milazzo: We can’t overstate the value of Alyssa Naeher, but it looks like Chicago may be in position to rack up DF points over the next few rounds. The Red Stars will likely benefit from only losing two players to the World Cup, and Milazzo added a sparkling assist to the clean sheet points earned from Chicago’s shutout of San Diego. Since switching to a four-back, the Red Stars have improved on defense and still have all their DFs available – if you have some extra cash to use with so many high-priced players unavailable, there’s always plenty of room at the MilazShow.

Also, to follow up on some availability questions from last week:

Claire Emslie didn’t start, but was available and came on as a sub for Angel City. We hope she’s back at full strength this week. Hailie Mace was listed as Questionable with a right shoulder injury and did not play – we will keep an eye on her status this weekend. Bella Bixby returned and started for Portland.
