I’ve talked at length in this column about the Big Three forwards of FNWSL, and a lot of teams are likely starting both Sophia Smith and Alex Morgan. However, if you do have money available for a 3rd or 4th $400k player, it’s a good idea to use that extra cash at midfield. There are four maximum price midfielders: Savannah DeMelo, Taylor Kornieck, Debhina, and Rose Lavelle. Last week, we covered how important DeMelo is to both Louisville and to her many fantasy teams, and then she logged both her first goal and first assist of the season in Round 3. Coincidence? Maybe, but either way, leave her off your FNWSL squad at your own peril.

Of the other three, Kornieck and Lavelle have scored 25 and 20 fantasy points respectively. Either are great choices for your team, but I’d lean towards Kornieck considering the fact that San Diego has scored the second-most goals of any team so far this season. Debhina, along with the rest of the Current, has gotten off to a somewhat slow start after her injury. She’ll likely increase her fantasy point output as the Kansas City offense gels over the course of the season, but for now I’d stick with Kornieck.
