Can a team of all Americans (well nearly!) challenge for the W League fantasy title? There’s only one way to find out….

So after a scoring the highest score so far of 141 points in Round 3, Round 4 was the complete opposite scoring the lowest with 94. However, Round 4 of the W-League season saw a majority of goals for high cost players coupled with no recorded clean sheets leading to a generally low scoring round across the board. This therefore saw American Dream up to 6th in the global leaderboard with a total score of 469!

This was the first week where the whole starting xi was able to be made up of American players. All three American midfielders in the W League were playing. Adelaide United were the team to have a break from action so Amber Brooks made way for Emily Menges as this week’s transfer with only Julia Ashley the other affected in my usual eleven dropping on to the bench. Therefore the team lined up as follows:

Goalkeeper = Aubrey Bledsoe (Sydney FC) ($40,000)

Defenders = Sofia Huerta (Sydney FC) ($60,000), Sam Staab (Western Sydney Wanderers) ($35,000), Kaleigh Kurtz (Canberra United) ($35,000), Emily Menges (Melbourne Victory) ($45,000)

Midfielders = Morgan Andrews (Perth Glory) ($40,000), Celeste Boureille (Brisbane Roar) ($45,000), Haley Hanson (Melbourne Victory) ($40,000)

Strikers = Simone Charley (Canberra United) ($35,000), Kristen Hamilton (WSW) ($50,000), Rylee Baisden (Brisbane Roar) ($17,500)

Bench = Olivia Price (Canberra United) ($17,500), Julia Ashley (Adelaide United) ($35,000), Chelsie Dawber (Adelaide United) ($15,000), Trudy Burke (Sydney FC) ($15,000).

Round 4

Sofia Huerta was again named as my captain for the fourth week running, clocking up 11 points which were doubled. Haley Hanson was on the scoresheet for Melbourne Victory making the midfielder my highest scorer this week with 12. Rylee Baisden notched up 11 points as Brisbane Roar defeated Canberra United while Staab and Kurtz both scored 9. Morgan Andrews had another solid day recording 8 points while fellow midfielder Celeste Boureille scored 4. A lack of goals up front meant strikers Charley and Hamilton scored 4 and 5 respectively. Emily Menges scored 6 while Aubrey Bledsoe only recorded 4 points. On the bench, Olivia Price would have scored 5 points one more than Boureille while Ashley, Dawber and Burke did not play.

Round 5 Preview

With no Western Sydney Wanderers game this week, my sharp shooter in Kristen Hamilton will be missing along with Sam Staab. Therefore both these players will drop to the bench.  After saving $15,000 with last week’s transfer, I have the budget to replace non-American, Chelsie Dawber with Adelaide United striker, Mallory Weber. The striker will go straight into the starting XI in a 4-3-3 formation with Olivia Price remaining on the bench.
