Match Summary
Group A
- Hosts England started the tournament with a 1-0 win against Austria with Beth Mead scoring the lone goal, a great result for the huge crowd at Old Trafford.

- The Netherlands and Sweden fought out a cagey 1-1 affair. The match was marred by Dutch injuries to goalkeeper Sari van Veenendaal and Aniek Nouwen. Van Veenendaal will be out for the remainder of the Euros and Nouwen will miss the next match against Portugal.
Group D
- Belgium and Iceland shared the points in Group D after both sides conceded penalties. However, only Belgium’s Justine Vanhaevermaet was able to score from the spot. Iceland’s Berglind Björg Þorvaldsdóttir was able to make up for her miss by scoring a headed corner in the second half.
- France are here to play, with five first half goals including a hattrick from Grace Geyoro. Italy came back and scored the lone goal in the second half but the first half damage was too much to overcome.
