With the sun setting on another fantastic A League Women’s season, its time to announce the ShePlaysDub Team of the Season. #ExtendTheSeason

Player and Midfielder of the Season: Mackenzie Hawkesby, 224 points | Sydney FC

Mackenzie Hawkesby led points this season accumulating a massive 224 points, the most points by a single player in ShePlays Dub history. The Sydney FC midfielder scored 5 goals (25 pts) and led the league in assists with 7 (21 pts). Her closest rivals in the assists department were Gorry and Ibini with 4 assists each. Hawkesby also earned the second highest attack points overall and the most by a midfielder (92 pts).

A mainstay inthe ShePlays Teams of the Round throughout the season, its no surprise she’s in the Team of the Season and Player of the Year. With the Premiership already in the bag, Hawkesby and Sydney FC will be hoping to go one better tonight in the Grand Final against defending champions Melbourne Victory.

Other TOTS Midfielders: Rhianna Pollicina, Katrina Gorry and Rachel Lowe

Forward of the Season: Fiona Worts, 218 points | Adelaide United

Fiona Worts was a Stats Stats Stats recommended player at the start of the season due to her goal scoring ability and points to cost potential. The A League Women Golden Boot winner found the back of the net 13 times this season (65 pts) beating out her Adelaide United teammate Chelsie Dawber (10 goals) and Melbourne City’s Hannah Wilkinson (12 goals). The Englishwoman also led the ShePlays Dub in attack points with 94 points and recorded the highest single round points haul of the season with her Round 11 performance against Brisbane Roar scoring 5 goals and 47 points.

Other TOTS Forwards: Chelsie Dawber and Hannah Wilkinson

Defender of the Season: Ally Green, 169 points | Sydney FC

Another Stats Stats Stats recommended player and newly minted Kiwi Ally Green is the ShePlays Dub Defender of the Season with 169 points. Sydney FC’s defence led the league in clean sheets earning Green 47 pts, only beaten by fellow Sky Blue Team of the Season defender Charlotte Mclean (50 pts). In addition to her defensive duties Green also recorded 1 goal and 2 assists this season. The marauding fullback was almost even across attack and defence points with 29 and 32 points for each, respectively.

Other TOTS Defenders: Charlotte Mclean and Kaitlyn Torpey

TOTS Goalkeeper: Jada Whyman

Young Player of the Season: Holly McNamara, 99 points | Melbourne City

Everyone can agree that they were heartbroken when Holly McNamara’s season was cut short. The now 19 year old had an emphatic debut season scoring 4 goals in just 8 matches with 2 assists to top it off. McNamara was included in our ShePlays Team of the Half prior to her ACL injury and I have a strong suspicion she may have ended up in the Team of the Season had she managed to play all 14 matches. An exciting star on the rise, we hope she can make a speedy recovery and can’t wait to have her back in the Dub.
