November 20 Trade
San Diego Wave FC traded defender Kaleigh Riehl to the Utah Royals, receiving $60,000 in allocation money and 2024 Expansion Draft Protection.
November 20 Roster Updates
San Diego begins the off-season with 16 players under contract, including midfielder Sierra Enge, as the club have exercised her contract option.
Amirah Ali, Belle Briede, Kyra Carusa and Giovanna DeMarco are all out of contract at the end of this year and per the November 20 update, are in negotiations with the team “regarding a return for the 2024 season.”
Mia Gyau has been waived, her right can be picked up by other NWSL teams.
San Diego has four players going into free agency:

Forward Amirah Ali is re-signed to a new one-year contract with an option for 2025.
December 15, 2023
Forward Rachel Hill and midfielder Sierra Enge are selected in the 2024 NWSL Expansion Draft by Bay FC.
December 16, 2023
The Wave announce they have reacquired midfielder Sierra Enge from Bay FC, with the help of the Houston Dash following vocal displeasure with her selection from Head Coach Casey Stoney.
The Dash acquired Enge in a trade with Bay FC, and returned Enge to San Diego in exchange for midfielder Belle Briede, a 2024 third-round NWSL Draft pick, and $60,000 in allocation money.
December 17, 2023
San Diego Wave FC has acquired forward Elyse Bennett from Utah Royals FC. In exchange, Utah receives $40,000 in allocation money.
December 20, 2023
San Diego Wave FC signs free agent midfielder Savannah McCaskill through the 2026 season.
December 21, 2023
Free agent forward Makenzy Doniak re-signs with the Wave through the 2025 season.

Free agent defender Christen Westphal re-signs with the Wave through the 2025 season.
January 5, 2024
The Wave announce the transfer of goalkeeper Shae Yanez to Bristol City of the Women’s Super League for an undisclosed transfer fee.
January 8, 2024
Goalkeeper Hillary Beall, currently on loan with Western United in Australia, is acquired in a trade with Racing Louisville. Louisville receives San Diego’s natural second-round pick in the 2025 NWSL Draft.
January 9, 2024
Forward Kyra Carusa agrees to a one-year deal with San Diego, signing on for the 2024 season with an option for 2025.
January 10, 2024
Free agent midfielder Emily van Egmond signed a new contract to remain in San Diego through the 2025 season.
January 12, 2024 – NWSL Draft Day
In a draft day trade with the Angel City FC, San Diego has acquired $40,000 in allocation money in exchange for midfielder Meggie Doughtery Howard.
During the draft, San Diego Wave FC acquired the 42nd overall pick in a trade with Racing Louisville FC, sending Louisville the 54th overall pick and $40,000 in allocation money.
Racing would go on to make two draft picks:
- No. 12, defender Kennedy Wesley, Stanford University
- No. 47, forward/midfielder Mya Jones, University of Memphis

San Diego receives $150,000 in allocation money in a trade that sends Taylor Kornieck to Racing Louisville.
San Diego now has 20 players under contract, including three goalkeepers, four defenders, six midfielders, and seven forwards.

San Diego Wave FC has acquired Swedish defender Hanna Lundkvist from Atlético de Madrid of Liga F in exchange for an undisclosed fee. Lundkvist signs with San Diego through 2025 with a mutual option for 2026.
