Gotham FC has been active in the NWSL trade market this offseason, and we’ve gotten some questions about what it is the team is gaining from these trades.
Today, we compiled all of Gotham’s trades so far to take a look at their net gains and losses as of January 5. It may come as a surprise that there have only been three trades, though Gotham had a significant number of players in free agency this offseason with ten.

Gotham Net:
- Minus two attackers
- Minus $90,000 Intra-League Transfer Funds
- No change goalkeepers, one in one out
- Plus one 2025 INTL spot
- Plus one midfielder
- Plus $510,000 Allocation Money

Notably, Lynn Williams has said she requested to be closer to home, and a move to Seattle gets her much closer to Northern California. Gotham has a net loss of just one player, gaining an international spot and $420,000 in assets.
While the names involved in the trades the team has announced, international and rookie signings are already filling out the roster space left behind.
Rookie Sarah Schupansky from Pitt has signed through 2026 with an option for 2027, midfielder Stella Nyamekye from Ghana has signed through 2027 with an option for 2028, and Brazilian forward Gabi Portilho is signed through 2026 with an option for 2027.
The team has further boosted their defense with rookie Lilly Reale out of UCLA signing through 2027.
Given the net gains from their trades so far, we doubt Gotham is close to finished constructing their roster for the 2025 season. We’ll just have to wait and see what they have planned.
