After an international break, we are back to fantasy WSL! From Round 1-8, here are how each WSL side has performed so far in fantasy in the ShePlays scoring system.
As you can see, your top 4 of Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Arsenal have been leading the pack in fantasy points, as expected. You can also notice that Tottenham and Liverpool players have been a solid value, performing above average while still having relatively cheap players. However, when planning ahead we should consider future fixture difficulties, which you can find in this chart.
According to this chart, we have 4 sides with relatively easy matchups coming up, while Liverpool and Tottenham squads are in for a much more difficult fixture swing.
One thing that catches my eye here is Manchester City. With all of their next 4 matchups on the easier side, it would be a good idea to start planning to get some of their players in. Here is the quadrant analysis for their team.
Premium Players: Manchester City
As you can see, a lot of top performers have high price tags. Khadija Shaw currently leads the league in fantasy points, with Laia Aleixandri right behind her in second. A couple other players that we might want to add include FW Chloe Kelly, MF Jill Roord and Yui Hasegawa, and DF Alanna Kennedy.
Another standout is Khiara Keating. While keepers aren’t generally top scorers, Keating finds herself in the green Low Cost High Points range, and is a very valuable keeper with a great set of fixtures ahead of her. In fact, she is the top scoring keeper with an affordable price tag, as shown below.
Value Players
In order to afford some of these top scorers for Manchester City and other top 4 teams, you will need to stack your team with affordable scorers. These next 3 teams have a great set of fixtures, with relatively cheap assets.
Leicester City
Leicester City players have been a great value so far, with 7 players in the value section. The players I would target for matchups against Brighton and Aston Villa include DF Sam Tierney and Sophie Howard, as well as FW’s Lena Petermann and Jutta Rantala.
Brighton and Hove Albion
Brighton has 3 players in the Value section. The two I would target for matchups against Leicester, Aston Villa, and Bristol City include FW’s Elisabeth Terland and DF Guro Bergsvand.
West Ham
West Ham players haven’t been scoring, but with matchups against Leicester and Bristol City there is a good chance of one of their FW’s Riki Ueki or Viviana Asseyi to return a decent score.
