Final rosters are out and we have one more big update for you before the season gets underway!

Headlining the news: Sam Staab and Midge Purce have been activated from the Season Ending Injury List!

Two fan favorites in ShePlays seasons past, we hope this makes some injuries we’ve seen elsewhere a bit easier to manage. Before we get to the additions, let’s touch on who we’ve made unavailable in the Team Selector (and why), and who has been flagged.

Players who have been made Unavailable in the Team Selector

All players who have been made unavailable in the ShePlays NWSL Team Selector since the start of the season, including players mentioned in past editions of NWSL Fantasy Updates, are listed below. Make sure to check your team and remove any of these players prior to the Friday 8:00 pm EDT deadline so that you don’t need to use a transfer to add someone new to your lineup!

Some teams opted to not include the SEI tag for players throughout their preseason and only re-established injury designations with the final rosters, so this list may be longer than anticipated.

Jyllissa Harris – loaned out

Morgan Weaver – SEI

Yūki Nagasato – retired

Katelyn Rowland – retired

Sophia Wilson – maternity leave

Veronica Latsko – SEI

Princess Marfo – Not Yet Reported

Marie Müller – SEI

Imani Dorsey – SEI

Lauren Flynn – SEI

Nicole Payne – SEI

Mallory Swanson – Not Yet Reported

Olivia Wade-Katoa – SEI

Bia Zaneratto – SEI

For tracking player SEIs occurring in 2025, we have an ongoing list to make things easier for you!

Players who have been flagged in the Team Selector

Two players were revealed to have been added to the 45-Day Injury Reserve with North Carolina’s final roster announcement.

Dani Weatherholt

Olivia Wingate

Would now be a good time to remind you that Bruninha and Ludmila will both be serving suspensions to start the 2025 season?

Ludmila – serves the third game of her three-game suspension determined by the NWSL Disciplinary Committee (details here)

Bruninha – serves her suspension from the Red Card shown in the November 16 semifinal against Washington

Both players should be available for Round 2!

A Note on the Washington Spirit

Post-match, Washington Head Coach Jona Giraldez mentioned that all 13 available players for the Spirit played in the Challenge Cup. Not to be alarmist, but that is a pretty alarming statement when the season has yet to begin, and one of those thirteen was Rebeca Bernal, who just arrived in market. The Spirit are away at Houston this week, and we should have their availability report and lineup prior to the Round 1 fantasy deadline.

We’ll be sharing updates on Bluesky (sheplaysinc.bsky.social), and Twitter (@sheplaysNWSL), and if we get them soon enough, we’ll try to put a last-minute pre-deadline article up here on the site as well.
