After an outstanding 2022, the Current have had a tough start to 2023, conceding nine goals while only scoring five in their first four games. We’ve covered how many star players have been impacted by injury, and I’d expect KC to turn it around in the near future. In the meantime, what Currenters should be on your FNWSL team?

Hailie Mace had a huge Round 4, but it may be difficult to count on KC DFs to provide consistent production for the time being in FNWSL (especially with Alex Loera injured). As expected, Debhina is trending in the right direction with seven points in Round 3 and fourteen in Round 4. She should likely be worth the $400k price tag shortly, but may not be quite as valuable as the other premium players at the moment.

For now, don’t overlook Cece Kizer. She’s scored goals in each of the last two KC games and has logged at least 75 minutes in both. If the Current do continue to concede 2+ goals/game, that could mean Kizer gets a lot of opportunities to push forward from her attacking midfielder spot. At only $225k, she could be a great option, especially if you’re using the strategy of one premium forward alongside two medium-price forwards.
